Section 01

Overview

The short version: Credit.Estate is designed to be privacy-preserving by default. We do not collect, store, or transmit the financial figures you enter into our calculators. Your mortgage numbers never leave your device.

This Privacy Policy describes how Credit.Estate ("we," "us," or "our") handles information when you visit credit.estate and use our tools. By using our website, you agree to this policy.

If you have questions, contact us at contact@credit.estate.

Section 02

Section 03

Financial Data — We Never Touch It

All mortgage calculations run entirely in your browser (client-side JavaScript). When you enter a property price, down payment, or interest rate, those values are processed on your device and are never sent to our servers.

This is not a policy choice we could later reverse — it is a technical design decision. Our servers receive no financial inputs because our code does not transmit them. You can verify this by inspecting your browser's network activity while using the calculator.

We do not:

  • Log mortgage calculation inputs
  • Store amortization results in a database
  • Associate your financial inputs with your IP address or any identifier
  • Share calculator data with advertisers, lenders, or any third party
Section 04

You can disable non-essential cookies in your browser settings at any time. Core calculator functionality does not require cookies.

Section 05

Third-Party Services

We use a small number of third-party services to deliver the website. Each processes only the minimum data required:

  • Google Fonts — serves web font files. Google may log font requests (your IP, browser). See Google's Privacy Policy.
  • jsDelivr CDN — serves Bootstrap and Chart.js libraries. Standard CDN access logs apply.
  • Hosting provider — our web host maintains standard server logs (IP, timestamp, request) for 30 days for security purposes.

We do not use Google Analytics, Facebook SDK, Twitter pixels, or any advertising network. We do not sell, rent, or broker your data to any third party under any circumstances.

Section 06

Contact Form Data

When you submit our contact form, we collect:

  • Your name and email address (required)
  • Your message and selected subject (required)
  • Province/State (optional)
  • Submission timestamp and IP address (for spam prevention)

We use this information only to respond to your inquiry. We do not add you to marketing lists, share your contact details with third parties, or use your message for any purpose beyond replying to you.

Contact form submissions are retained for 12 months and then permanently deleted. You may request deletion at any time by emailing contact@credit.estate.

If you email us directly at contact@credit.estate, standard email metadata (sender address, timestamps) is retained as part of normal email correspondence. We treat all inbound emails with the same privacy standards described here.

Section 07

Your Rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the following rights regarding any personal data we hold:

  • Right of access — request a copy of any personal data we hold about you
  • Right to rectification — request correction of inaccurate data
  • Right to erasure — request deletion of your personal data
  • Right to portability — receive your data in a structured, machine-readable format
  • Right to object — object to processing based on our legitimate interests
  • Right to withdraw consent — where processing is based on consent, withdraw it at any time

To exercise any of these rights, email us at contact@credit.estate. We will respond within 30 days. We may ask you to verify your identity before processing a request.

Because we collect minimal data (and no financial data), most requests will result in confirmation that we hold nothing beyond contact form submissions, if applicable.

Section 08

Data Security

We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect the limited data we hold:

  • All web traffic is encrypted via HTTPS (TLS 1.2+)
  • Our API enforces HTTPS-only access and rejects plain HTTP requests
  • Server logs are access-controlled and retained for 30 days only
  • Contact form submissions are stored in access-controlled systems
  • We conduct periodic security reviews of our codebase

No system is 100% secure. In the unlikely event of a data breach affecting your personal information, we will notify affected individuals as required by applicable law.

Section 09

PIPEDA & Canadian Privacy Law

Credit.Estate operates from Canada and complies with the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and applicable provincial privacy legislation, including Quebec's Law 25.

Under PIPEDA, you have the right to access your personal information and challenge its accuracy. Our Privacy Officer can be reached at contact@credit.estate.

For users in the European Economic Area, we also comply with applicable aspects of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), including lawful basis for processing, data minimization, and your rights as described in Section 07.

For California residents, we comply with the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA). We do not sell personal information. To exercise your California privacy rights, email contact@credit.estate.

Section 10

Children's Privacy

Credit.Estate is intended for adults making informed financial decisions. We do not knowingly collect personal information from individuals under the age of 18. If you believe a minor has submitted personal information to us through the contact form, please email us at contact@credit.estate and we will delete it promptly.

Section 11

Policy Changes

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or applicable law. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page.

We encourage you to review this policy periodically. Continued use of Credit.Estate after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.

We will never make changes that retroactively alter how we handle data you previously submitted without providing notice and, where required, obtaining your consent.
